Cupping Therapy
Massage cups create a suction when applied to your body, which results in a pulling sensation rather than the pushing that is typically associated with massage. The suction effectively equates to a reverse deep tissue massage. Cupping reaches tissues as deep as 5 in from surface, increasing blood flow and relieving muscle tension. It mobilizes your lymphatic fluids (which boosts your immune system) and releases toxin deposits from your tissues so that they may be eliminated through your lymphatic system. Additionally, cupping has been shown to tone and firm the skin.
We use a variety of massage cups in our practice: flexible silicone cups and glass cups (with a vacuum tube attached to create suction . First, oil is applied to the area, then the cup is placed on the skin. Depending on your treatment needs, the cup may be moved around in long strokes, or it may be left in place. For some patients, cupping may leave red circular marks on surface of skin, but they are not painful and will fade in about a week or so.

Ionic Detox Foot BathThe ionic foot bath is a modern homeopathic detoxification method reminiscent of the detoxifying salt baths in Ayurvedic medicine and Roman bath houses. The goal is to remove toxins and alkalize the body.
When undergoing this therapy, you will sit comfortably in a chair with your feet in a bath of hot saltwater. A special device is placed into the water which passes a low electrical current through it, making it fizz. Over the course of the 30 minute treatment, the water will change color due to the chemical reaction between the electricity and saltwater (with or without feet in the bath). When toxins are released from your body, additional debris forms in the water (black flecks, foam, bubbles). We recommend drinking plenty of water before and after your foot bath. The 30 minutes of stillness is a great opportunity to calm your mind and practice deep breathing techniques and/or meditation, which have health benefits of their own and are proven to reduce stress and anxiety. |
